Essential Functions
- Prepare diets for and feed the on- and off-exhibit reptiles and amphibians.
- Mist, clean, and otherwise help tend the on- and off-exhibit reptiles and amphibians.
- Change exhibit water and clean filters in order to maintain the highest water quality possible for the animals.
- Assist in the maintenance of the live food cultures (e.g., fruit flies, springtails).
- Conduct and record animal observations.
- Perform special projects as determined by the herpetology staff.
- Observe medical procedures on collection animals as opportunities present.
Requirements
- Open to college students currently enrolled in an accredited college, pursuing a degree in biology, zoology, animal behavior, ecology, environmental science, or a related field.
- Must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work within the selected term.
- Must be comfortable working with frogs, lizards, fish, rodents, crickets, and other terrestrial arthropods.
